Marquetry - How to make pictures and patterns in wood veneers
Marquetry - How to make pictures and patterns in wood veneers
David Hume | Stackpole Books | PDF | 82pgs| 12mb
Marquetry is the art of using the colour and grain of wood veneers to create a picture which is overlaid on to a solid background.
There are different ways of building up a picture from wood veneers but I have found that the 'window' method of cutting gives very successful results. I describe the techniques of this method on pages 20 and 21, and I use them in my step-by-step instructions.
I hope to show you that a newcomer to this craft can create interesting and exciting designs of his or her own. The book will also be, useful to those who are already familiar with marquetry, but who wish to progress beyond commercial kits.
Inspiration for a design can be taken from a variety of sources and you will derive hours of enjoyment and satisfaction from translating designs into finished pictures.
